My Team

My starting XI

Sky is one of the sites which allows substitutions during the season. It is important to bear this in mind while selecting your first team. In my opinion it is worth taking a gamble on a few riskier players. For example, I have gone for Grant Holt who i think may have a good start to the season, if he doesnt i can transfer him out for someone on form but if he does it is unlikely that most others would have selected him, the majority of people go for proven and expensive strikers. This approach is fine but it often means a few weaker defenders have to be picked. I recommend going for defenders from teams who dont tend to leak lots of goals, a few proven midfielders (here i have gone for Silva and Van der Vaart), one excellent striker and one risky striker. My favourite thing about my team below is the difference in head size between Hernandez and Holt!

In hindsight this was quite a poor starting selection. Downing, Cahill and Hernandez have been particularly disappointing.

September 1st update.

Now is a very good time to make changes to your team. Unfortunately I am not very good at listening to my own advice and already made lots of changes to my team! Here is my current tem:

As you can see I have taken out Vidic (injured), Koscielny (or however you spell it, Injured, luckily after Sunday!), Van der Vaart (gutted but Spurs havent started very well!), Hernandez (didnt start the season) and Holt (was a gamble anyway). After taking these players out I have put in players like Silva who is buzzing and will play all season if fit and will create and score loads and same goes for Nani (although i cant stand him). I went with Bent up front alone, my first choice was Dzeko but changed my mind :(

Now the transfer window has closed it is a good time to re-evaluate your team. Look at who has sarted the season well; Silva, Dzeko, Rooney, Young etc, and anyone who has moved clubs. I tink Ruiz could be a great signing for Fulham but they need to start playing better. Also, Adabayor will be a very good signing for Spurs, he has a record of starting very well when he signes for a new team and in my opinion is a huge upgrade on Crouch. And finaly i think Arteta will do very well at Arsenal, provided he can stay fit.

February 12th Update.

Below is my current team. As you can see I have recently brought in Kaboul, Williams, Bale and Graham. I signed Sessegnon as soon as Martin O’Neil took over at the Stadium of Light and he has been on great form. I had to get rid of Adebayor so I could get Bale into the team, maybe I should have waited another week as Adebayor scored one and set up four against Newcastle but in the long run I think its a good move. Im considering taking out Nani as he has been very quite recently but will give him another week or two to see how he plays when he returns from injury.
